Twisted Taco Truck Throwdown – Texan Original Official Hot Sauce
VFW POST 76 TO HOST THE 6th ANNUAL “TWISTED TACO TRUCK THROWDOWN” ON SATURDAY MAY 7TH
San Antonio, Texas – March 23, 2016 – The VFW Post 76 at 10th Street and Broadway will host the 6th Annual Twisted Taco Truck Throwdown, a taco and food truck competition, on Saturday May 7th, 2016, 4pm to 12 midnight.
Presented by Twisted Tea, this free all ages event will feature live music from Los #3 Dinners during the day and Finding Friday in the evening as local taco trucks and food trucks showcase their twisted culinary masterpieces. Attendees will enjoy a sampling period from 4pm to 8pm when tacos al pastor will be available from all trucks for only $1. Each truck will feature a signature item as well, giving event-goers a variety of eats from which to choose. La Paloma White Wings is the Official Tortilla and many of the participating trucks will feature these delicious ready-made tortillas, or tortillas made from their mixes, in their menu items at the event. Comes in 3 flavors and all will be available at various food trucks throughout the event.
The 2015 competition featured 21 of San Antonio’s favorite taco trucks, from which the 2015 Grand Champion Teka Molino Mobile was crowned, along with Freestyle category winner The Grilled Jalapeño and People’s Choice winner Truck N’ Taco. The Grand Champion is based on each trucks’ tacos al pastor and the Freestyle category winner is based on a taco entry of the contestants’ choice. Entries in both categories are scored by local celebrity judges and the People’s Choice winner is chosen through text voting during the event.
The VFW Post 76 is the oldest post in Texas. This event has historically been one of the top fund raisers for the VFW Post 76 Veteran Relief Fund. Again this year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit this fund that provides assistance to veterans in need.
